Frequently Asked Questions
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal (LHR) works by use of light to heat up and destroy the hair follicle. The hair cycle has three different phases. In order for laser hair removal to work, the hair must be in its active growth phase. Multiple laser treatments helps to ensure all the hair is removed in that determined area.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Laser hair removal has no down time. There is little to no discomfort. After treatment you are able to go about your daily activities. We use a YAG laser which is specifically designed for all skin types. YAG lasers use a longer wavelength which dramatically reduces the risk of burning or scarring. There is a free consultation for each client. During this time, we can further discuss all factors involved with laser hair removal.
Does laser hair removal cause cancer?
Laser hair removal has been around since the 1990's. There's two types of radiation. Non-ionized radiation and ionized radiation. Laser hair removal uses non-ionizing radiation which is not powerful enough to alter DNA. There is no research suggesting laser hair removal can cause cancer.
How many treatments are necessary to remove all the unwanted hair?
We recommend every client start at six treatments minimum for each area to ensure unwanted hair is removed. The hair growth cycle depends on a person's race, hair thickness, area of the body, and many other factors. There is no way to determine exactly how many treatments. After your treatment package, we advise all clients to get touch-up treatments twice a year.
